Get Thee To Church

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25.

It is good to go to the House of the Lord, it is good to stand in His presence and sing His praises. It is good to have fellowship with believers. As one who has been unable to partake of such a blessing for several (six) weeks due to illness in the family, I have been blessed immeasurably today by standing and partaking in worship.

Though I was unable to hear most of the sermon because I sit with 4 children under the age of 10, to be in God’s presence in His house was healing to me. It was a balm in my Gilead; it was salve to my woundedness of the past weeks. It was nourishment for my sin-sick and starving soul.

We have recently changed denominations so that my husband can seek ordination and become an Army Chaplain. The church we now attend has only been our home since Christmas time and yet, I was called at home and prayed for in our absence, we were considerably blessed by generous gifts given for our well-being. These are truly God’s people, and I missed standing with them to worship our God.

Singing hymns and reciting scripture together has blessed my soul and nourished me to move forward into the week ahead. I often take for granted when we are well, and I sometimes do not remember the blessing we have in this country; the chance to worship as we each see fit, the blessing of health so that we can all attend that church of our choice.

Do not neglect to meet together with a body of believers, your cup will runneth o’er.

God knew we would need the Body of Believers to spur us on!

I missed church Sunday morning, due to fatigue. Is that a real excuse...I don't if it is or not, but this morning I realized I missed it. Then I pop over here and realize I really missed it!

I'm glad you all are feeling better!

We too had missed the last two Sundays because of travel and it was sooo good to be back yesterday! Isn't God so good to make our cups overflow!

I have to agree with you! No matter the reason I have for missing church, it is difficult to make it through the week without my worship time in the House of the Lord on Sunday's!

We have missed a lot for the same reasons, but yesterday we were out bc of a soccer tournament (which happens a handful of times a year.) The one week we WERE back 2 wks ago, we had nursery duty. I think I have been in church twice this new year. I'm ready to be back in church. I'm tired and weary and like you said, it's like food for your soul.

Hi, came over by way of your comment on Carol's blog.

How true your post is. When we first moved here 1 year ago we didn't even attempt to find a church for some time. I fell away from the Lord for months.
Now we have found one and I can see how much I need it. God is really working on my life.

Thanks for such a true post!

"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the Lord.'" Psalm 122:1
I am so glad you got to go to His house this week!!! And that you are all feeling better!

I stumbled on your page after you left me a comment on my blogpage. And I cannot say AMEN loud enough on what you had to say. We need our fellow church body not only to encourage us on but we are to lift one another up and check on those that are missing on Sunday or Wednesday. Too many times we go to church to see what we can "get" rather than looking to see what we can "give". The "give" part just may be looking for that empty pew and seeing who you can call this week to minister to. Someone who is sick, or going thru a hard time or "fatigued" (YES JENNY FATIGUE IS A REAL REASON TO MISS!) may just be waiting to hear from you!

Ok thats my thoughts on that...now I noticed that you are an incredible woman!! You have your hands full with a housefull of children and yet have time and patience to write something so inspirational on your blog.

KUDOS! GO GIRL.
I hope to check back and see more of what you have to share.

The children and I missed 2 Sundays in a row because of the big, bad FLU! It was the first time we've missed in a long time. The children even felt bad that we weren't going. We were back yesterday and it was a nice feeling. I jokingly introduced myself to people as they called me a "stranger"!!! Love our church family.

Mary - we have not had a church home since we left Washington :(

As a new Christian, I learned so much at the church in Washington and am finding it [seemingly impossible] to find something that will take its place. We have visited a few places though and made some wonderful friends; that counts for something, right?!

I know the Lord has something for us, but exactly what and where and when .... only God knows that part.
I just keep praying for the Lord's will.
You'll have to let me know about your knew church; feel free to send a private email.

So glad you all are better!

With Love in Christ,
Joanne
