Whole Wheat Bread-THM Style 2 loaves I have been in the kitchen since I was able to stand on a chair next to my mother. She was my 4-H leader from age 9, and I learned all of my kitchen skills from her. She was an excellent baker, canning aficionado and superb chef. Both of my parents felt, as I do, that homemade is best—homegrown even better. We raised chickens, turkeys, beef cattle, rabbits and a large garden of produce to feed my brothers and sisters. We all had certain tasks during one of our “putting up” sessions. Mother was always telling me to be refined, and stop acting like the boys. LOL I had four brothers and two sisters, I think the masculine influence always outnumbered the feminine. We were a large family and we would buy large quantities of whole grains to turn into flour with the grain mill in the basement. It stood on three legs with a heavy bag underneath to catch the warm flour as it came through
Sincerely 'fro me to you and Vintage Thingies Thursday ! Kristen over at We are THAT family has a blogging carnival going on Thursdays, and she asked for bloggers to share a story from our past, something that won't probably make it into a scrapbook because we can't find our crinkle-cut scizzors or some mouse peed on the pictures or whatever reason. Apron Queen also has a carnival goin on called Vintage Thingies Thursday, I thought since I am so good at multi-tasking, I'd roll two posts into one and call this story both; an embarrassing story from my past as well as vintage. Now if you think that those bangs aren't vintage, and that, "Oh My! Would you look at that zipper!" I don't know what is! So, this is my story... Fall 1978, it was the beginning of my modeling “career.” It all began at the Western Idaho Fair, on the exhibitor’s building main stage, or rather behind the main stage. There I was waiting for an absolutely dreamy Junior Future Farmers
As if I didn't have enough on my plate...(that must be the understatement of the year)I'm jumping in. I was just going to sit back and watch the clues unfold. But I've gotten sucked in! I'm doing this. I love Bonnie Hunter's quilts. They are everything that appeals to me, colorful, scrappy, frugal with lots of great details. I love her motto about "ugly" fabrics, "If it's still ugly, you just didn't cut it small enough!" Once the first clue came out I knew I had to play along. I love green and pink together. It is all over my house in different shades and combinations. My poor husband has to sleep in a froo-froo bedroom. Which he does willingly to keep my happy. (The first time I saw him, he was wearing a pink Izod button down shirt.) [swoon!] Yet, I digress. So, I'll post my progress here. I'll put up a picture as soon as step one is completed. Ok, I'm excited now! Eating is overrated, isn't it? "It's Campbell
