Blogging Break

My tired, old decrepit computer has rebelled. It has served me faithfully since we received it as a gift nearly 4 years ago. I love my Dell, I have kept fingers out of it, I have kept back the tinkering "mechanics" who would load this and load that, "Oh try this download Mom!" But alas, it can't stay on anymore. I keep getting a BSOD, nearly every morning. That's a "blue screen of death" for you non-techies. My DH purchased new memory for my Dell at Christmastime, but I think it is sick now, non-compatibility issues. I'm expecting a new computer in about 2 weeks, but I can't risk losing all my files, photos, (nearly 8000 of them,) stored on this computer. I need to slow down and limp it through this crisis, so I'll not be able to be here in bloggy land like I would like to be. Who knows, maybe this is God's way of telling me I'm spending too much time here. I'll be back, don't fret, we are well, I just have to take it ea...

Thursday's post a day early...

I got nothin' today folks, so if you stopped by to reap some great and inspirational nugget of wisdom, you've come to the wrong blog. I've had a day of running around with two kids in tow, not too bad considering, but I didn't come up with anything witty, or inspirational or hope filled in my travels. Tomorrow promises to be just as weird, I'm driving an older gentleman from our former church to the military hospital for an appointment. He would have to spend a couple of extra hours getting a pass to the post, so I'm picking him up and dropping him off instead. I'll sit and cross-stitch, or read, or twiddle my thumbs until the appointment is over and I can drive him home. Then off to the grocery store while the kids are at the sitter. Ahhh! The freedom of it all! I had this saved on my computer for such a time as this, when funny is just not happenin', spiritual insight has gone out the window and intelligence is nowhere to be found. So here it is: If I ...

1 Corinthians 13:1-12

This is all I have to say today, go over to Praise and Coffee and read. Insightful, inspiring and oh, so important. Are you fully loving your loved ones?

Rules, Schedules and God's Provision

My daily Bible reading has taken me on a journey of miscellaneous rules; God’s rules for His people. Much of it has been rather dry and boring, repetitive and seemingly unnecessary. After all, who would think about stealing another man’s wife, well, I guess that people do thing about it and that’s why God had to be so specific about the things He wanted the Israelites to obey. God was very specific about the offerings and tithes brought to the temple, this offering is for this particular feast time and this offering is for that time. Bring this amount if you are married, and bring this amount if you do not have a wife. Take head that you obey these things, and do all that I have commanded you. I came to the blessing today in my reading, Deuteronomy 28: 1-14. I’ll just quote verses 2 and 9. 2) “And all the blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God,” 9) “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself just as He has sworn to...

Score one for Skinny Girl!

Image
Skinny girl, “I found a great new snack for us to try! Martha Stewart raves about it and Faith Hill eats them!” Fat Girl: “Yum! Let’s bake!” Thinking about those de-lish-to-die-for Oatmeal Toffee cookies. “We’re not baking.” Skinny says, “You eat this raw.” “Raw, you say?” Fat replies, “Mmm, I love raw cookie dough! Lemme at ‘em!” “No, it’s edamame.” Says skinny girl with pride. “Eda-whaty?” That sounds like some 60’s era knot tying plant hanger!” “Edamame, you know, soy beans! They’re full of fiber, and protein and healthy heart disease fighting stuff.” Skinny smugly replies. Fat Girl, “I’d rather die happy!” Skinny Girl, “Ain’t gonna happen, now have a soybean!”

Clock update!

Oh my! I think I may have unintentionally misled you all into thinking that those clocks were all mine! That is truly not the case, I just found a picture off the internet. While I would love to have all those beautiful antique clocks, I only have one wooden clock that hangs on the wall. We call it a grandmother clock, it doesn't stand on the floor like a grandfather clock, it is large, but not that large. I didn't have a picture of MY clock so I just searched on the internet for something close. I didn't mean to mislead you.

Quiet

It’s quiet. Too quiet. In the solitude of my home, something is missing. The little boys are sleeping. The big kids are at school. The radio is off, but still there is a sound that I’m not hearing. Where’s the tick, where’s the tock. Where are the Westminster Chimes; top of the hour, quarter past, half past, three-quarter past. Yesterday was “Winds-day”, the day to wind the clock. I didn’t.
